Went to Carlisle looking for a jack for my 1966. Came back empty handed. It doesn't have to be a 1966. I just want a jack that will work with the lug wrench. Before I post over at the "wanted to buy" area, will all midyear jacks operate with a my 1966 lug wrench?

Yes, they will - the hex size on the jackscrew is the same on all of them.
Just for your info a 68 - 82 jack will work to jack up your car but will not fit in your storage area behind the seat. The whole thing is slightly longer and it sits in there all messed up and no way to correct it because the jacking bolt is actually longer. They look exactly the same but one is ~ 9" and the other is ~11" (not certain about the measurements since I too don't have a correct one to measure)
I went to a "U Pick Um" junk yard and got a jack out of an old wrecked Camaro. It's not exactly correct, but it's close enough, and it was in very got condition......8 bucks.

if that is the case find a jack out of a corvair they look very close to the mid year jacks
I have a jack that came in my '65. I believe it may be a type II though. It's original and in excellent shape, but the crank handle has a bolt and nut holding it together. I can get a pic. I don't particularly care if I keep it or not, since my car is modded, but like I said, it may not be for a '66.

Newbie Vette owner here .... where exactly is the jack storage compartment ?
I don't believe I have a jack, but don't know where to look.
I want one to carry that will work properly.
For now, I just carry a small floor jack without much lift.
It's the recessed compartment behind the seats.
The carpeted cover should have a "jacking instructions" sticker on the under side.
LOL !!!
Thanks Steve, I didn't even know that was there.
Of course it was empty ... and the "jacking instructions" sticker was almost peeled entirely away.
Guess I'll pick up a Corvair jack as recommended and be done with it.
Anybody know where I can find the "jacking instructions" online somewhere, so I know where the correct jack points are ?
Rick, sorry for the thread hi-jack (ha, ha, ha ... get it ?)
