I asked this before about the S-10 spare. Will it have enough back space to clear the disc brakes, and especially the fitment in the rear with all the additional hdwe.

I don't remember who said they would check this out, but if someone would then we would know for sure that this a good solution.

Looks like mid-late 90's S10 based vehicles, probably many others as well;

C2 disc brake calipers require more wheel clearance around the calipers than late model single piston calipers; the S10s may not work.

Bill that's what I was questioning will the S-10 work with the C-2 Brakes.

I would be satified if someone out there would physically mount the S-10 spare and confirm it will work.

i don't have a C2 or an S10 spare, but i suspect it might work by using wheel spacer.

I bought mine a few years ago based on a thread similar to this and which stated it bolted right up, clearing the calipers. We'll see.

Guys, I'll do it...'cept tomorrow's Labor Day. Promise I'll have an answer on this and post up by Tuesday...with pics. I'll also be sure and post up the exact size of the spare tire from this S10.

Have a great Labor Day!

I can't remember who posted this photo (although I remember the floor), but it shows the S-10 spare mounted on disc-brake C2.

OK guys and gals. Had some quiet time today and decided to labor on Labor Day. Here are the results of my efforts.

I see JohnZ (as usual ) retrieved a pic of this type of spare. Way to go JohnZ

First pic show my '5 with F70x15 Goodyear Polyglas Redlines mounted.

Second pic is the S10 T155x90D16 Temporary Spare mounted.

Spinning the wheel, no contact with disc brakes. Took it for a drive...no issues turning, stopping or starting.

Here's a few more pics one of which shows the cruddy looking calipers which clear the 16" S10 rim. Got to do some cosmetic work on that.

Measuring the height of the tire it's right at 27"...same as my F70x15's.

Hope this helps you guys decide.

Regards,

Jim
