Spare Tire Advise Needed
We have a recently restored 1966 SBC Convertible and need a spare tire. We have a stock rim and now need to decide what size tire to buy. We have the standard spare tire tub with the standard length forward nounting bolts. We definitely do not want the tub tray to hang down. Want the spare to be entirely in the tub when closed. A few months ago this subject came up. John Z said that a 190-75R-15 would be the largest we can get away width to keep the lower tub tray completely closed. We do not want to go with the S-10 spare route
Any and all advise desired and appreciated.

Howdy,
With all due respect, if JohnZ referenced a tire size, that's pretty much all there is left to say on the subject.
Is there a reason you do not wish to pursue John's recommendation?
Jeff

With an original spare tire tub, you really have only two choices - a 195/75-15, or the S-10 spare (or an original non-DOT 7.75-15, but you can't drive on a 40-year-old tire).
