Default Differential vent question

Doing the rear suspension, and I got the differential and cross member out today. Interestingly, I found that the plastic differential vent was loose in the hole. It slid in and out quite easily. It's been throwing out some oil in that area, and I always thought it was out the top of the vent. Looks now like it may have also been out of the space between the vent and the differential cover?

How tight should it be? Has anyone used some type of sealer there?

Thanks

Harry

I cleaned mine and then "Glued" it in with some black RTV

TTT

Thanks Jack, I think I'll go with the RTV, even if I buy a new vent.

Has anyone put in a new one recently? (I'd just like to know if a new vent will be an interference fit.)
