Default Bubba wiring issue - Help

Installing new interior harness to my 65 327/350 4 speed. The bundle of wires coming thru the firewall go to the wiper motor and pump. However I have a set of wires that have been spliced and taped together but they lead down to the transmission and are attached to some kind of switch or selonoid. The only thing I can think of what they might be for is backup lights which I do not have. The colors of the wires are red/black and the other is green/black( as best I can tell). So what are they for and do I need them? I definitely do not have anything that long that exist on the new harness. Thanks

Thanks to both of you for your help. Since I don't have any BU lights I see no need for the repair to nowhere. John Z thanks for the article, the new knowledge I have gained and the forums help
