Default C1 hardtop plexiglass date codes

I picked up an excellent hardtop this past April for the '61 (May 18th build date) and it looks like its even correctly dated for my car.

The side plexiglass (both pieces) have a "AS-4 2-61" date, however the rear is different and looks like "AS-4 7 8 8" or possibly "AS-4 7 8 6".
I'm not a nut about date codes but curious about what the rear glass code represents ???

I'm pretty sure that is a replacement rear window. I thought the rear glass had the same date code convention as the side.

I have an NOS window for my 62, later today I'll try to unbox it and check the date code format on it.

That would be educational Jeff...it may well be a replacement rear plexiglass window however the "8 8" (or "8 6") doesn't jibe to me.
Either that date code follows a different convention or they dated service replacements with the current date in much later years. Very curious..

I should clarify, my NOS rear window is from the early 1980s, so we might find an early 80s date code in a similar format as is on your car. There was a time when these rear windows were plentiful from GM.

I'll check it out after I pick up my new shocks for the 62.

Up to you Jeff if you want to unbox that unit.
I did call Matt at GlassWorks and he says that GM replacements were plentiful in the '70s and that is probably what I have....the original rear glass would have also carried the "2-61" code...

The Corvette Central shop has in their early Vette catalogue 53-62 a detailed glass code reader on one of their pages....

Reading this thread, curiosity got the best of me and I got off my dead butt and trotted down to the garage to see WTF? NEVER noticed these #'s before: AS4 3-62. I believe my 62's birthday is 4/12/62...or some day close in April, without going into my files.
