Default outer window wipe

having a little paint work done and would like to remove the outer window rubber wipes. There appears to be 5 or 6 fasteners to remove and it looks like I will need to drop or remove the windows. I'm not sure how the forward section is held in place. Are there any fasteners between the outside of the vent window and stainless??

On a convertible, the rubber wiper is riveted (3 places) to the stainless trim piece. There are 5 short flat-head (phillips) sheet metal screws that attach the assembly to the door. The door panel must be removed, as a minimum ... perhaps the window glass, too; I don't recall for sure. It is a tight fit to get a phillips tip into the heads, which are normally pretty crusty with corrosion. You must fit the tip very tightly and press hard while withdrawing the screws. 4 screws go through the assembly horizontally and the 5th is on the end at a spot welded tab, about 90* angle.

I can see the fasteners outside of the door glass. You indicate a 5th fastener at the end, is this fastener located at the front most section of the door on the outside of the vent window assembly??
If so can you get to the fastener without removing the vent window assembly.

You can see the tab for the 5th screw in my photo. The picture is a RH side. I I took the vent window assemblies out, but really can't recall if that was req'd to access that screw. My car is gone to paint shop, so no way for me to tell at this time. I did paste a note on the LH seal to "... install this before window glass ...". The shop manual instructions aren't very descriptive, but they do not seem to indicate that vent removal is a step.

Thanks Vark, I had a closer look at mine after viewing your photo and the screw is located under the vent window frame. I do not see any way to get at it without removing the vent window assembly.

The window wipes are only held on with a special black rivet in 67, all other years use a round staple, if you use a rivet you will see it, spend the time to make the staples out of wire and drill the new rubber through the old holes. Yes, door window drop, and yes, remove vent assembly. (on a convertible)
