What is the correct carpet for a 58, Daytona or tuxedo and who sells the best carpet sets for the C-1s?

 

Daytona was still used in 58 and changed to tuxedo in 59.

Wilcox is running specials now and sells Corvette America which is great from my experience with the 60. I will use them again when I redo the 57 this winter.

They are a very good vendor!

Willcox sells Auto Custom Carpets is this as good as Corvette Americas carpet?

I was looking for a top quality correct carpet. The colour is light blue.

 

If you get carpet from ACC for a 58-62, tell them to make sure they cut the left floor carpet the correct length. They got it wrong 2 times within 6 months for 2 '59 carpet sets. The first episode took 12 days to get it right after I sent them my original left floor carpet per their request. My car is stock.

I was not happy the first time, then I was assured they got it right the second time for another '59..........shame on me. I fixed it myself and will not go there again.

Did you order the carpet from ACC or a ACC vendor?

 

It was ordered through Zip Products, a supporting vendor here. They were extremely helpful to get it right. I sent them these photos and more, and they coordinated the direct return to ACC. It was not Zip Products error. For the record, I am not degrading ACC, as they fixed their errors for me. This is just a warning to check in with them so they don't make a mistake on yours. They make a very nice carpet set. Finished pictures below.(sorry for the blurry ones)

The problem is the length of the main full length piece at the seam near the seat, where it attaches the extension piece at the sill. Their main section was 1-1/2" too long. As you can see, in order to get it fit to the gas pedal studs, the end by the sill plate is too long. If you fit it at the sill step, it won't fit over the pedal studs and jams up the throttle lever.

6 months later I ordered another set for a black 59, a replacement style. To my surprise the left floor carpet section was the same incorrect length. I needed to install it right away, so I fixed it myself. Very frustrating.

I would suggest anyone getting 58-62 carpet sets from ACC, through a vendor or direct, to call and ask what the measured length is from the top left to the sill step edge. Make sure it matches your existing carpet. It will save you grief. It is really a nice carpet. It was just a shame I had to go through this error.........twice! Their pattern form used for cutting the left floor carpet must be wrong. Every other piece was always fine.
