chicken bar
What is the real purpose of the oval slot right side dash hand hold in C2's? .. Was it to help entry into the car..................................... ................or something a nervous nellie could hang on to when the ride got a little (((((
)))))?

I'm pretty sure there was no reason for it other than it being a handle bar or grab bar. As I'm sure you know in 67 they did away with it.

Some D.O.T. official's relative broke a finger in the mid-'60s, so grab bars were dubbed a hazard? Anybody have a post-'70 car with one?

I think they are referred to a "Passenger assist bars", for getting out of the car. I call it the coward grab bar.

My 2003 Chev S-10 ZR2 had a passenger grab bar. It was very handy for the passenger on off road trips.

This is my thought on this topic..
It was used to help scoot the seat forward....
The driver used the steering wheel...
