Can anyone recommend a make and model of coil spring compressor you have bought that definitely works on a C2. Hoping to maybe buy one from Summit or someone but it sounds like you can easily get one that will cause problems from reading old threads.
That's what I use as well! A piece of 5/8" all-tread, a couple of nuts and some scrap steel and you are good to go. Just insert the rod through the shock opening and put a plate across the hole in the bottom of the A arm to pull against. Pretty hard to beat the price on this model.

I am using a compressor for a Mercedes which is very good for a wishbone suspension. I am a new this forum, and I don't know how to show pictures here, but I have several pictures showing installing coil springs by using this compressor.
go to top of the forum page and there is a thread about how to post pics.
also a hearty welcome. this is a good place to learn, and a wealth of knowledge here.

How long does the 5/8" rod/bolt need to be and where can you get one cause I would geuss it probably is what 18" long or so?

I just bought a 2' long piece at Home Depot. It probably does not need to be more than about 15", but I never cut it off. It will work for almost any car that uses standard shocks that go through the center of the spring.
My lower plate is actually a chunk of angle iron with a hole drilled through one leg. It just needs to be long enough to span the shock hole in the bottom of the A arm. Always use a large washer under the top nut, as you don't want the nut to chew up your top shock mounting cup.
