when you say judging problems you mean for NCRS. if so you will get some sort of deduct. I always look at it like this. If a theif wants your car they will figure out some way of getting regardless of any anti-theft you have

I have Lojack in My HUMMER H2... Also had it in my 2009 Corvette. If you live in the northeast or near a big city ..it is worth the investment. If you live in a state like Texas where ther are few large towns around the responce time to find your car can be a a while by your local Police department.

The police have Lojack equipped cars to hunt for the stolen vehicle. In my area. Ther are 12 LoJack equipped Police cars 9 miles from me. Depending on your area and police department the more the better.

You must first report your car stolen to the police and inform them it has Lojack and File a report. Then you have to call Lojack and report it to them. Lojack will contact the police and the Hunt begins.

I am considering equipping the 65 with Lojack. People who want your car now use guns and force you out of your ride. The newer cars are almost impossible to steal due to the new anti-theift systems.

With the older Corvettes it's easy as it was back in the day just by hot wiring them. Unless...you have a hidden Kills switch Etc.

The Lojack Battery has to be tested every 2 years by lojack which costs about $80.00. They come to your house for install and or battery check so you don't need to go to a dealer. Just Call them and they will send someone out to install it at your home. It should take less then 1/2hour.

Of course ... your not supposed to know wher the Lojack transmitter is placed...but I have found the install techs don't care if you secretly watch.

Another suggestion would be to contact your local police deptartment and ask how many Lojack equipped cars they have. Also consider if you really need it. If you travel and leave your car at a hotel or in a parking lot unattended then I say yes.

If you have a show car that you garage and never leave at shows then you might not need it. If your ride is worth Big Bucks.. Then I'd go for it.

Any car can be stolen... all you need is a Tow Truck and it's gone in Less then 60 seconds.

Unless you're heavily armed and sitting in the car, it's theirs for the taking.

Yes.. A nice Colt .45 would be good.... or a Pit Bull channed to your chassis...you know the theif will still be there when the Fuzz show up...Or....at least an arm or leg.

Your right all of those small towns like Houston,Dallas, San Antonio have to rely on the territorial marshall to round em up. His horse can only cover so much ground.

Funny! ......1stTexan!....I once heard San Antonio described as a large Mayberry RFD!......I've got a GPS (not LOJACK) in my '64 restomod and wouldn't be without it....I don't think the NCRS judges would mind the little cigarette pack sized module after they look at the Street Shop chassis, LS7 engine and TKO 600!....and besides....when we drive to where the GPS unit is we can use the Colt .45....only in Texas!

I think they have a new lojack which doesn't need a battery.

Default LoJack

I have a Viper GPS system in my NSX. I do not need the police to track the car. I just log on to their website enter my code and I get real time imaging of where the car is located. If it is parked and is moved without starting the engine as if it were towed and the alarm was not activated, I get a call on my cell phone informing me that the car is outside its zone of twenty feet. I can also open the doors, open the trunk, disarm the alarm, open the windows or freeze the ignition system if the car is stolen, all with a phone call. I even got a call from my car telling me that my battery was low. If you have a child with a heavy foot, there is also a speed warning notification. I pay about $100 per year for about 100 notifications. They roll over each year. The system self checks once per month and notifies me where the car is located and all systems are in good order. I added a back up battery which is good for about 30 hours of time if the main battery is disabled. Jerry

It runs off the car battery as the primary?

Yes, the alarm runs off the main battery. I buried the backup battery under the dash. It is difficult to find unless you know where it is located. Jerry

Lojack is powered by your cars battery only to keep it's own long lasting internal battery up to the power level required for transmission.

So killing the car battery does nothing as the LoJack Battery then turns on the system. With Lojack, the Police hunt your car down and do the shooting and killing if needed.

The Vipe GPS sounds sweet. Looks like they have it all covered..except the police end. Lojack works with the Police and they do the hunting as they have the LoJack Signal locators in thier cruzers.

Also..if you have an OnStar Equipped Vehical, They know excactly where it's at. Of course if you have a Smart Thief.. He'll bust the Shark fin antenna off to kill the GPS Locator Signal to OnStar.

But now adays most Car Jack Thieft's arn't to bright and don't think about that lil'l Antenna on the roof when they rip you off.

Where is the Viper GPS Antenna located at... can it be hidden or must it be exposed to open air?

My antenna is located under the dash inside the car. I like the idea of having control and a visual of my car on a screen via GPS if stolen. I also like the idea of killing the engine on my command. The police may not give the highest priority to tracking a stolen car if they are occupied with more pressing matters. Jerry

That's cool that the antenna is inside and out of view. I Like that. I might lookinto it for the 65.

Also remember the Police have LoJack Task Force's like the one in Atlantick City. They are always out and about looking for stolen cars as well as a Lojack Call that they get after a rip off.

Obtain a spare cell phone under the family plan. Turn off the ringer and vibrator and all the alerts, beeps and chirps. Wire a charging cord into the switched circuit of the car. Hide the phone under the dash. The phone company can tell the cops where your car is located without GPS, LoJack, or the internet. Just a thought.

If those "pay as you go" or prepaid phones have GPS capability that might be an even cheaper route.
