Starter Date Coding
When were the starters installed? During the engine build, or during vehicle assembly?
Should the starter date code precede the build date of the engine, or of the vehicle?
Does this apply to all models in 1970?

Starters were installed on the vehicle assembly line. Just another reason why the starter is black and nor orange and there is orange paint behind the starter, even in the 60s
