Default 1963 Corvette Question-Start

I have a 1963 Corvette Convertable that was starting fine. Now it turns over fine with new battery, but wont start. Seems to be getting fuel as I can smell fuel, but want start. Would appreciate any feedback or suggestions to help. Thanks very much in advance!

Air, fuel, and fire. These are the three things that make an engine run.

One is missing.

Do you have electronic ignition on it? Check that you have fire, if you have gas.

And if you have fire, be sure it is timed right.

you say it WAS starting fine - what changed, besides the battery? battery would NOT normally be the reason for not starting, if that is the only item that changed in the equation

If you don't have electronic ignition, check to see if your points are burnt to smithereens.

If it's cranking and not starting try a jumper across the ballast resistor; if it starts, replace the resistor; don't leave the jumper on as you'll burn-up your points.

Probably the points. Make sure you're not turning the key to ACC when you shut it off. That will burn the points up fast.

Did you check and see if you have a spark?

Gerald, come on now. You know that the ACC position will NOT burn up your points!

If that were true the engine would run in the ACC position, right??

Larry.
