Default Master Cylinder Rust

What is the best way to keep the finish on the master cylinders on my C2 and C3 looking presentable?

Have a "Clear Powder Coating" applied.

I touched one up with Calyax (sp?) manifold dressing years ago and it looks just as good now as when I first did it. Has a nice cast gray appearance. One thought for an easy approach.

Default rust on master cylinder housing

Lightly clean with fine steel wool (#000) and wipe with oily rag. This will retain original look. Regards, Abe G

That's a good idea! Probably need to re-oil every year or so. I know they ship them with some kind of oil or preservative on them but eventually it wears off.

'63-up master cylinders were painted semi-gloss black.

Default fiiish on master cylinder?

In my limited experience, I never saw a factory original master cylinder with a decent finish. All the "nice" ones are rebuilt or owner painted. Regards, Abe G

...........it looks to be newer than a C2? In particular, I don't recognize those valve covers as being from any C2 that I am familiar with. Also note the HEI distributor. It looks like a C3 - maybe a '76 or so?

It's an '80, but the master cylinder is the same as the '67 (minus the bleeders).
