I have a friend with a 62. His tire has a DOT code on the inside wall that reads:
cynkc277464
They are reproduction BF Goodrich Silvertown
This is on the outside of the tire, correct? This is the old style date code used on tires made before the year 2000. The date is week 46 , year 4. There might be a triangle near the code although not always. If there is it is a 1994 tire. If there isn't it could be any year - 94 , 84 , 74 etc. I probably wouldn't do the Sebring 12 hour on these but they are ok for display purposes. They are a minimum of 16 years and 7 weeks old and maybe a lot more. I would avoid the freeway too.. When I had my tire shops I probably would have refused to put on the spare if you had a flat and offered you a new set of tires at cost so you wouldn't kill yourself in the traffic. Time for some new skins old chap.
