The referenced car is not a real LT-1. The announcers said it was a base engine car. It was still quite sharp and at 18k I thought it was "well bought" as they say.

By the time you add expenses to get there, expenses to get it home, taxes, commissions etc. I don't think anything at BJ is well bought.
My oldest son is driving a '31 Cadillac V8 he got running for its owner onto the stand in Scotsdale Thursday night. He has a part-time job as the mechanic for a collection of perhaps 25 cars.
Yeah, you deffinitely don't want to be in the first half of cars at Barrett-Jackson. I'd rather be last, at least then people know there is nothing left!

good piont. the people left that want a car pay a little more to bring it home.
I cant wait to see what the 1965 396 corvette brings. It is the rare yellow paint combo and it said matching numbers.

At 17,000 after you add the 10% 400.00 bidders pass, Travel ETC you end up at over 20,000. God knows what the frame, windsheald frame, & body is like under the shinny paint or what dosn't work. Try putting that Corvette on here for 20,000 & see what happens.

The yellow 396 may be a great car but with a description of matching #s which means very little and no mention of judging history or real docs/real engine stamp/ and tags, it's very tough to use it as a barometor of that market. What is nice to see is that some sellers are stating whether the engine is a resto or oem.

Concerning the condition of the body/frame/windsheild frame, you are correct. We don't konw what the condition is. However, because none of us (so far) have personally seen these items they could also be satisfactory. Aside from maybe a couple of go-fast items, the engine compartment doesn't look bad at all. The interior looks satisfactory (I saw the B-J photos) and the paint does look good from 2,000 miles away. I'll cede the added B-J buying/selling costs are something a typical buyer wouldn't have to bear, but how many people travel to buy a Vette? Show me a $13,000 chrome bumper car and I'll show you one that probably needs $4,000-$6,000 worth of cosmetic and mechanical work.
Perhaps I should have stipulated in my original post that the car was well bought from the sellers prospective. Awe heck, who am I kiddin'. The car sold for what it was worth. At least the buyer thought it did.
