Default Another question on wiper conversion kits

I read all the posts concerning the SPW and the raingear wiper conversion kits. Thanks to all of you who shared their experience and pictures. My question now is:

Did anyone put the SPW kit in the car after everything is already in the car and WITHOUT removing the gauge cluster and dash insert? It doesn't matter to me which side I mount the motor as long as I can get the tubes, cable, and transmissions in.

By the way - how long did it take?

Thanks,

Rick

i have the CC version of the SPW conversion and it was installed in my 62, by me, with all the 'stuff' under the dash; didn't have to remove the cluster or the center insert.

wasn't fun, but doable. i mounted the motor on the driver's side, behind the kick panel. i did have to notch and put a hole in a brace in order to get the aluminum tube routed the way i wanted; but others may not have had to.

it certainly works better than the old cable system, but i don't need to use my wipers that often...

Default Thanks for the post and pictures

Thank you for taking the time to respond and especially for the pictures. I see very clearly the hole you had to add for the cable. I'm going to order the kit next week and get started as soon as the weather here gets above 20 degrees.

Thanks again,

Rick
