Before you do this, be sure of the PPM already contained in the oil you are using. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing

Thanks guys, not doing anything yet which is why I come to the CF to ask. You always hear this and that about people's theories. I figure with the combined years of experience here the answers should be pretty solid, that's why I ask... I still learn new things everyday
I use Chevron Delo by itself and haven't had any problems, even with heavier than stock springs. I read somewhere though that oils are being reformulated again.
So far I have been using either Mobile-1 10-40 or Amsoil 10-40. When I had the motor apart last month everything looked pretty dang good to me... I just want to do what's best for my baby..., and my wife :o) LOL
Question, Are you guys adding GM EOS to your oil with each oil change? I have been told that a 1/2 bottle with each oil change will save your cam...

One of the shops here said to add it on the older motor each time. I will do more checking on this quesion here. This shop here gets the stuff from Eastwood.

Find another shop because that one is only interested in selling needless, additives to the uninformed or easily fooled..
I've only used Chevron Delo LE 10W40 CI4+ or CJ4 and AMSOIL AMO 10W40. I've standardized on the AMSOIL now. For two oil changes a year and the value of an original 427/400, the incremental cost is irrelevant. I also only use WIX (Napa Gold) filters. The current replacement Delco filters for the original cannister setup are Mexican-made junk.

Mobil 15w-50w has all the Zinc/Phosphorous our old cars need and run the 2-quart NAPA 1794 truck filter for added protection (if you have the spin on adapter).
Don't get down the this subforum too often, and trying not to get dragged into an oil debate. Only trying to offer a few pieces of info that seem pertinent to this thread.
The AMSOIL SAE Synthetic Premium Protection 10w40 (Product Code AMOQT) mentioned above is a good fit for this application and recommended by AMSOIL for flat tappet cam engines. It comes with high ZDDP (zinc – 1378 ppm, phosphorus 1265 ppm), and a High Temp High Shear rating of 4.3, nearly as high as the 50 grade Mobil 1 mentioned above, but at a lower viscosity.
FYI, AMSOIL also carries WIX products as they partnered with WIX and Donaldson several years ago to make their own line of filters (the EA filters).
For those interested, I'm more than happy to get any AMSOIL products, including WIX filters, for forum members at dealer wholesale pricing, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.
