Default KO Wheel Help

I am trying to determine if the knock-offs on my 65 are real or repros.

The markings are as follows:

DOT-T
306 065
KMC Wheel
0303A
02 240A

Any thoughts?

Appear to be REPO'S. Originals had no DOT.....and KH stamp for Kelsy Hayes. Back of the spinners did not say MADE IN CHINA either.

P48 knock-offs were part #3852552. Later in the production run it changed to #3868768 on 2-22-65.

I'm just curious. What is the going price on a set of original KO wheels these days and did the original set include a 5th wheel for the spare? My spare tire and KO wheel are originals that have never been on the car yet.

Here's the best shot I have available of their condition at present, and I'm aware that they do not have the brushed cones but they have been on my car since before I purchased in '68.

Our KO wheels show these cast markings:

WESTERNWHEEL CORP. K-H
306065
15 x 6
BC2290

What are they considered to be? Semi replica? Westernwheel Corp was a subsidiary of Kelsey & Hayes.

aren't original KOs on C2s easily approved by the longer bolts of the sparewheel tray?

Default KO wheel

The first reprodutions cast in s Calif cast KH in thier wheel with western wheel. about 500 sets were cast and sold until KH sued for infringment so even though they are repros they are rare from a nastagia point of view I had a set and got first hand info from a gentlman who worked at western hope this helps

I am not sure of the story behind them but they are not that rare as I have had several that had KH and WESTERN WHEEL cast into them and still have 3 sets like that.I also have a that have KH cast into it with the nasty words, made in China, cast in as well

China is probably exempt from any infringement they could probably cast Duntov in them if they wanted to. Look at their fine Rolex watch I saw saw some nice ones in Venice beach.

I appologize but I must take this chance as a shot in the dark:

Does anone have a spare wheel for sale with his markings:

WESTERNWHEEL CORP. K-H
306065
15 x 6
BC2290

I'd like to have an identical 5th wheel, but do not intend to have a "bitsa".

Who knows, what the differences are between these wheels:

DOT-T
306 065
KMC Wheel
0303A
02 240A

versus

WESTERNWHEEL CORP. K-H
306065
15 x 6
BC2290

I agree
Recent sets of "ORIGINAL KELSY HAYES" wheels have been $1500 per wheel including spinner and hub.

Corvette USA (www.corvetteusa.com) in San Diego is making a very nice reproduction today of 64-6 Knock off and 67 Bolt on. I believe the price is around $2500 for 5 wheels.

Used reproduction sets are around 1200-2000 depending on condition and sets of 4 or 5.

Today everyone thinks 63-67 Corvettes came with knock offs and side pipes.

Truth is the original wheels were an expensive option and not that many were made. 806 sets in 64 at $322.80 each, 1116 sets in 65 and 1194 sets in 66 is all that were made.

That is 3116 total sets for 3 years, or 15580 total wheels. Add 10% for service parts and Chevrolet probably did not buy but 18000 wheels total over three years.

67 production of the bolt on was only 720 sets, and they cost $236.30.
