Default Vent window frames

Both of my vent window frames on my 66 vert have some pitting. What's the best way to resolve this? Can you buy new ones or do you get them replated?

You are almost always better off to get original parts rechromed instead of buying repro, possibly ill-fitting replacements...

Anybody have a tutorial on how to remove these parts and prep for replating?

There are no repros of the 63-67 convertible vent frames, the only choice is to replate yours. Find a good, reputable shop familiar with collector car parts and chroming pot metal. Someone not familiar with diecast can wreck pot metal parts.

As far as removing them, I've done it, but don't think I could talk you through it here. Basically, you have to fully disassemble the doors, pull the glass, regulator, etc, and just keep pulling things apart, till you get them out.

As far as prepping them, fully disassemble them and give the plater just the diecast frame itself. If you want to have the stainless frame that holds the glass, look as good as the main frame, have your plater polish them, but hold onto the rest of the parts.

I bought mine at carisle a couple of years ago. down at the bottom of the car coral . great guy, just be sure the small bolt holes are not striped out .there not that hard to do but you will have to deal with the riveted pin at the upper hinge location. Jim.you can learn everything right here just do a search.

That seems like a pretty good price.

Can they be sent you just as they are removed from the door, or do they have to further disassembled?

will cost a little more but will be better off in the long run. most repo cheap chrome work then 9 out of 10 will not fit are work correct. Just use a good place to do the rechrome on the parts.
