Default Question:

It is time to crate my original 327 300HP on 67 roadster. I don't want to make big changes on my power steering and pulleys ect. Do I have to go with another 327 or is there another engine the will fit and weigh the same? I have a 4sp munci and want 400+ HP. Thanks Rod

I would think any small block Chevy would fit without a problem. I know many C2's (including my own) have 350's in them. After mothballing my original 327, the 350 fit perfectly, with no modifications.
Good luck! :smash:

Any 350 with 2 piece rear main will fit without problems (I think pre 80's but not positive when they made the switch to one piece). A 400 sb would have a different flywheel and balancer. 400 hp 350's can be done easily and have great reliability.

I'd go with a torquer 383 (350 with the 400 crank). You really can't beat that sb for the price (imo). Of course, there are a million 350's to choose from, from mild up to 385 hp out of the crate with a warrantly.

How do you plan on storing your original motor? I have kicked that idea around also.

Thanks I have been told locally that a 383 would fit the bill, and weigh the same for no mods required on suspenstion. As to storing the original, I thought I would buy a cheap engine stand, fill pistons with 120 weight gear oil and put a big plastic bag over it so I can remove it quickly and give it a turn every once in a while. but I need to research it a little more.
