Default Windage tray bolts

I am about to install the windage tray. I have always had my shortblocks built for me. So I have no experience regarding bearing clearances and procedures.

How do I go about removing the exsisting bolts and installing the windage tray bolts. Do I need to do more than just R&R and re-torque? No checking bearing clearance? Anything else?

You are installing new bolts and not studs correct? Studs can apply a different clamp load in which case you would want to check the main bores. For bolts I would just R&R them and torque.

Ya just the proper small journal windage tray bolt. I stayed away from studs for the reason you mention.

the windage tray bolts are special bolts with stud extensions the tray attaches to.

Yep, pulling the bolts and swapping in the tray studs is toooooooooooo easy. There are (were) two different studs (one for small journal blocks and one for big journal blocks) and two different windage trays that were available from GM (flat and curved). I believe the long studs and curved tray are still available.

Yep, that's the factory set up. All parts still available, I taped up the threads and sprayed two coats of Glyptal on extensions and windage tray, and of course Glyptal inside trap door oil pan looks and performs awesome!

Beware to test fit the dipstick tube and dipstick before buttoning up the oil pan. I used a Milodon lineage tray and did check it so I had to pull the pan after the fact.

Thanks. Being a non chevy item, I figured it might need some fitting.

I went to install this afternoon. They only shipped me 3 studs.
