Default 62 Differential date question

My 62 has a Posi unit dated about 2 months after my car was built. I have never really worried about it. Relatively close to me, however, I came across a correct unit that was cast 5-6 weeks before my car was built. Would this be considered in the range of possible or it it too far away. It was assembled exactly 4 weeks before my car. Thanks,

Bill

If at some time in the future you wanted to have the car judged in an NCRS event, the max allowable date for parts prior to vehicle assembly is 6mo. So, that would be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay within the range for a correctly dated rear.

If your purchase is for NCRS purposes make sure of the following
Casting # 3789812 for 61-62 posi & that the casting is a Detroit Gear assembly. The case should have a long thin "P"
and the year portion of the casting date should be a single digit.

Thanks Donald and yes on all accounts. I have a correct 812 unit in my car for comparison. Thanks,
