Besides costs does it hurt to change the interior color? Have a 64 with a dark blue interior and would like to change it to white to match the convert top. i will keep the old parts. I am new to these beautiful cars, am i missing a downside somewhere or can i make my childhood wish come true?

That's what I did on my 65. I kept all the original interior,If I ever sell it the new owner can change it back if they desire to...
Welcome to Corvettes. To answer your question, it's my opinion that it's your car..."tweak it" anyway you like. Of course, on the practical side, will the car be a driver or are you looking to do a restoration project to bring it back to factory specs? The fun of it is that there are so many choices...Enjoy!!
There will be differing opinions, but I think it boils down to this: Assuming everything else on your car is original, it will decrease the value unless you happen to find a guy that wants the white interior regardless of originality. This decrease will be lessened because you are keeping the original interior. If I was to buy your car, I would base my offer on reinstalling the original interior. Like I said, some guy may like the white better and not lower his estimate on value.
Since its an easy "fix" I would put in the white since thats what you really like.

You say costs but I assume you mean value and yes, that's about the only downside with the exception of your standard know it all looking under your glove box asking you why it doesn't match.
how original is your car. does it have the original engine and so on.
yes it is a numbers matching, had the engine rebuilt and starter, alt, tranny, rear and anything that had a number was checked and verified as correct ( Lord i hope the guy wasnt bsing me ). I had a new carb installed since the old was a replacement of unknown origin. The car spent alot of years in germany with a U.S.Army officer so some items needed attention ( plastic oil pressure line etc.). The door panels are nasty and the seats need some TLC. So i was wondering if making it look like the car i fell in love with in 64 was reasonable. I appreciate the help of you good folks.

Man that's an easy one... if you intend to keep the old dark blue interior, I would deffently make myself happy and put in the white if that's going to make your childhood wish come true. You only live once, so go for it.

Not sure what you mean by keeping the old parts?
Do you mean you are buying all new white seats, or are recovering the existing blue ones? Replacing the door panels with white? What else? Prepare to dig deeper into thy wallet than you expect.
Keep whatever was original.
Anyway, love the dark blue body, white top & white interior contrast...

Why would anybody be under your glove box and question you about you trim tag. That statement implies that you are present during this violation of your Corvette and permitted it to happen. If the improbable does happen, you just tell them it's your Vette and that's the way you want it. That's if you don't kick their **** first!

My 65 is an numbers match car also with the exception of the trim tag code that depicts black vinyl instead of black leather. That the way I wanted it.
Good point on the seats, yes i was going to refoam and recover them and save the blue leather. I really appreciate the help guys, looks like this site has some good folks.I will post some pics when this happens. Now just need to hide it from the mrs., the engine was easy. This could be a bit more difficult.
My 65 was originally Nassau blue with light blue/white interior. It was painted dark blue very close to Daytona blue. I dyed the dash 66 dark blue, replaced the carpet with 66 dark blue and recovered the seats in white leather. Door panels remained factory white. I think this is very close to what you are thinking about. I'm very happy with my interior color change.

I've been to car shows where this has happened to me. Granted it's much harder on a corvette given where the info is relative to a camaro but it happens. I do agree that it's no one elses business.
But I'm still confused what the original post is asking... Are you interested in the "cost" of changing the interior or the impact of changing it on the value of the car?

Looks to me as if the OP is asking if the change would hurt the value of the car. Note his first sentence he says "besides cost" which I take to mean other than the cost of changing the interior.
