Take a look at these 2 pictures. Is it my imagination or does it look like I'm sitting up much higher in the C1 than in the C2? Maybe it's because my arm is in a different position in the 2 pictures but in the C1 picture it looks like I'm sitting in a kiddie pedal car .
I'm not all that tall (6') but if the top was up on the '61, I'm thinking it would touch the top of my head.
Maybe its a combination of you sitting up straighter in the C1 and the more pronounced slope of the doorsill? Compared to the top of the windshield frame, it looks like you're a little higher, but I think that might be posture.
No question about it....which is why folks often say that you sit ON a C1 but sit IN a C2...
Yup. Look at the level of your shoulder compared to the top of the doors. I'm 6'2" and my head hits the hardtop on my 60. However, it hasn't been on the car since approx. 1984, so it's no big deal.
Looks pretty similar to me. Maybe within an inch. The C2 picture is closer up than the C!, so it's hard to compare. Could have alot to do with the condition of the seat bottom too (worn out VS redone).
most seats are redone totally wrong. they are over stuffed and over padded to keep the 'wrinkles' out. not to mention the covers are not as supple as the originals. thus you are sitting on a phone book....
I read article a few years ago that a C1 was the last Corvette that you could drive and comfortable rest your arm on the door while driving. So I would say sitting higher in the C1 is normal sitting position.

That's my experience. The C1 has an X-member, so the floor is nearly flat. The ladder frame in the C2 allows the seats to be dropped between the crossmembers.

You definitely sit higher in the solid axle. My wife says I look like a gorilla sitting in my 61. My head does hit the hardtop roof when I go over bumps. I'm 6'1". I sit much lower in my 65.
One good thing about the seating position in the 61: I'm at the perfect height for the elbow out the window

It may have been partially a posture thing. I have lower back problems and the '61 seemed a bit less "lumbar-friendly" than the '67.
Both cars were recent full body-off restorations so the seats had been redone on both.
I have to admit that this was the first time I ever sat in the driver's seat of a C1 or a C2. My initial impression was that the C2 was more comfortable and just "fit" me better. [I sound like I'm picking out and trying on a new suit LOL!].

I put both pictures in PS and rotated and moved them to line up by drawing a line on the belt line of both. Then I pasted the two together making sure the lines were lined up and this is the result.
