Default Removing casing from generator.

I would love to powder coat the casing on my generator. Has anyone broken one down before for a rebuild. If so, how hard is it?

The most difficult part is removing the field coils as the pole shoe screws are very tight and require a special tool to remove and install. The rest of the disassembly process is not difficult but you do need to take care to assemble it correctly and make sure the terminal screw insulators are in place and you don't short out any internal leads. If you are not comfortable doing it, take it to a good auto electric shop to disassemble and reassemble after powdercoating.

My choice would be just to clean it up good and paint the exterior.

Okay, I'm easy. What sheen black is appropriate and can you recommend a brand spray paint?
