How can you tighten the visor so it doesn't droop down. Shemp

There is a tool made for that. Imagine a flat blade screwdriver with the center of the blade removed.
Short of that, I have used a thin screwdriver tapping on one side of the adjustment. Some times it will work. Bill

Oh maggosh - I just noticed in one of Jack's recent middle clamp pics that he'd jammed some stuff in there to keep the same from happening.

I don't know how many visor clip screws I've snapped. I even have a flatblade driver notched in the middle just to get past the point screw through the centre.

I have tried inserting rubber strips, goop, even emery cloth to offer more grip, but what's worked best for me is just working some loctite red into the pin. Yes it's a little too tight at first but it will loosen up enough to move, but not more than you want it to. Like the side mirrors, they may need a little more of the loctite later in the season, but it's an easy fix... then no more annoying flop so you can get on with the drivin'.

I tried lots of things; jammed zip-ties, small wooden dowels, etc. Worked for a short time. I finally just ordered a couple new visors and it's been fine for years now.

That's what I did 4 years ago and knock on wood, they are still fine.

Shemp

Just take them off and wear your shades ... then you'll have one of those rare sun visor delete cars.

Buy new visors, and buy extras of the hardware as the bolts are easy to snap off. On mine the passenger side was fine, but the driver side was droopy. Drove me nuts, having to push my visor back up time and time again during every drive. I got them from Corvette America-in fact, they'll tell you if the visors don't stay up you need new ones. By and large, that's true.

I had some luck by knurling the shafts with a chisel. It raises the areas and gives some extra bite on the visor.

Even the stuff i jammed in did not work, i just changed screws and used a nylon nut, you can really tighten it down, but , to get out of my car, I have to put the vizor down, so i can use the frame to push off of, fake hips and knee, so you have to re tighten them every few thousand miles. Or is my hips I have to tighten .........

But putting aluminum wrap in there will work also, high drag

stock screws and nuts look good but will not hold against wind at 120 mph.......

20 years ago I cut four about 1x0.5 inch pieces of aluminum flashing, and wrapped each around the pivot pegs and stuffed them into the visors so they couldn't be seen. The visors holds at triple digit speeds (with a radar detector hanging on the left one).

I did the same thing with some thin copper sheets. Soft metal gives a little and holds the visors tight. Can't see it if you tuck them in the visor and it did the trick. I also use a security bit from a set I bought at HF. Fits the screws just right.
