Hi JB,
I did not have your Roadster listed. Could you please tell me it's body number and if it's a 3 or a 4spd? Does it have power windows or brakes etc? Soft top color?
JB, are you saying that it now has the motor from '63 #18,333? I don't have that car listed either.
Thanks!
Syd

It's a 4spd. no power windows or brakes. White top. Yes the motor is now 18333. I got the block from Joe Marquez in CA. I will send body number in Jan as I'm in Florida until then. I would trade the motor to the owner if that came up. I have it listed in NCRS orphans.

It looks like the serial number lines up with the body number. Could you post a picture of the trim tag? What are it's colors and transmission type?
Thanks!

If you are concerned about the spot welds rather than rivets, that's the correct way for attaching the VIN plate on a '63.

And many times they are 'double-tapped' as appears to be the case on the right hand weld in that picture....my left-hand VIN tag attachment is clearly that way....

Hi Dave,
I have no idea how many remain or are registered but I have kinda kept track for over 15 yrs.
Including some 63's that were recorded prior to me and some cars recorded by others, and also including some that were wrecked or stolen etc. over the yrs, I've listed over 3,100 cars in my '63 file.
Of the approximate 3,100 '63 total, 1770 are split windows.
I'd guess that a good number survive, at the very least double that figure and most probably quite a bit higher.
I would love to hear from '63 owners who would contribute to this file.

Syd, not sure if you have this car, it was for sale at Mecum KC in Dec and Kissimmee in Jan. Black/ black, s/b white over red. Description stated numbers match but did not verify.

Hi ranger,
That is some pick up! Hard to believe that it was sitting so long in the elements.
I recorded your '63 just this past December with the body number as you show and noted that it was a NOM and now a restomod project. Does it have it's transmission? What type if it does? Tach red line?
Any info on it's partner split shown?
Thanks ranger!

I do have this car listed as your picture shows and noted that it was now Black/Black. That's all the info I have for #6.717. Do you know the hp and trans type? Is this the car that was claiming to have a/c?
Thanks!

Yes, this is the car that had AC on it. It was stated to be a 300 hp, but I did not see the engine pad. It was a 4 speed. Car was sold at Mecum Kansas City in December. Was originally a no sale the next month in Mecum Kissimmee, then ran through again and sold again.

I am the original owner of my '63 triple black convertible. Next month will be 54 years.
My engine was built on Feb. 2, 1963. My Vette was delivered to Rapids Chevrolet in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Feb. 25, 1963. I took possession Feb.27, 1963. I was 18 years old when I stared buying it. I paid every dime on it but did need Dad (with Mom's approval) to cosign the loan
I ordered 340HP, 4 speed (T10), positraction, 4:11 gears, hardtop, AM radio, white wall tires. I still have the original engine, transmission, hardtop, radio. I do not have the original tires. They (all 5 of them) were worn out at 19,000 miles. I had the tie rods moved to the front holes the summer of 1963. They are still in that location. In the 70’s I replaced the shoe brakes with disc brakes, installed headers, side tubes, Pertronix igniter & MSD ignition.
The frame had to be repaired from all the salt driving the summer of 1981. My sons and I disassembled it, had the frame repaired and with help, put it back together that fall.
I drove it 63,000 miles the first 2 years. Since then have averaged over 10,000 miles per year. Current mileage is 548,000. It has been driven in all lower 48 states, Washington DC & all the Canadian provinces. Our (my wife & I) 2007 trip out west was 6,000 miles. Our 3 week trip to Labrador in 2008 was 7,100 miles. Since 2007 I have been running a new 350CI, 400HP, 10 to 1, no lead power, with 3:08 gears. Since 2007 we have averaged 14,000 miles per year.

Very beautiful looking '63! A Black over Saddle leather roadster is the bomb.
I'm not sure if you posted on this thread before but I had your '63 #13,412 recorded, including the note that your interior was now Black. I had your car listed as being a 300hp but I see the high redline tach in your picture. Is it in fact an original 340 car?
Thanks George!
