In '98, our second of two was graduating college and I figured if I didn't start then, I'd never drive it again. So the body came off and I did EVERYTHING underneath. I didn't have the time or skills or money to repaint it, so the body went back on, paint worn through, flaked off, oxidized, scratched and all. Even dirt in the fender wells. Still fun to drive!
That's fantastic Pete.
Somewhere in this thread I told about coming across a Silver Blue split window many years ago in Stowe, VT. That car had it's original paint and it was worn and faded beyond belief. I didn't appreciate it that much at the time but now wish I could see it again...and get her numbers this time!

Thanks again Pete!

Hi Mjfloyd,
I had your '63 recorded exactly as you described.

Thanks!

Anyone know the history of this one. it is only about an hour from my doorstep. I did speak with the seller but he only has a salvage title so has no idea of original VIN. As you can see it is a TRUE project car (no tags, No engine, no chrome, no interior, no glass, etc). I don't mind the labor but the needed parts look like they will cost a small fortune alone (it looks like they fabricated the rear window spine). In all, the ask seems pricey but others here may have a different opinion.

Save yourself and run. There is no value in that project. The end!

My dad brought his '63 Roadster out from the east coast recently when he moved in with us.
It's a manual trans 327, dark blue (nearly black) w/ white softtop, well north of 300k miles. He's the original owner and the last 6 of the vin is 112588. Need any other details for the list?

It was a daily driver for decades, but sat in his garage for the last 12-15 years. He retired and now has the time and inclination to repair and restore it, so he'll have it back to tootle around in about 3 months from now. Excited for him!

Hi Kev,
Agree with JMills, just awesome that your dad still owns his '63. I did not have his roadster listed.
Could you please tell me what engine hp and transmission it has? Is it code 916 Daytona Blue and what color is his interior? Also, does it have any other options like power windows or brakes etc.? Hard top?
Finally, what is it's body number?

Thanks Kev!
Hope your dad gets her back on the road soon.

The bill of sale indicates simply "D blue/blue int" for color. I've seen the "Daytona Blue" name before but I always think of it as a much much lighter blue, almost royal blue. The color of this car is so deep blue it's almost black.

Bill of sale also shows 300 hp, positraction, am/fm radio (for $175!!) and something else I can't identify. (Also no power windows/brakes.)

The model is shown as 867. Is that the body number?

That is a very neat document Kev! Other '63 owners like myself would love to have one just like it.
Daytona Blue is dark and a lot of times in pictures or at night it is mistaken for Black. Perhaps your dad had it repainted at one time and it's even darker?
I see Daytona cars advertised for sale and find it common for dealers to say that the interior is black when in fact it's blue.

Your dads bill of sale shows 300hp 4spd and what your not identifying is white wall tires for $31.55.
You should find the cars Body number on the trim tag next to it's serial tag. Take a look under the glove box area. The trim tag should be riveted to the metal cross bar.

Thanks again!
Syd

Hi Mike,
I did not have your '63 #2,001 recorded. Could you please tell me about it so that I can include it on the list? Original colors, engine hp and transmission type, power options, body number etc.?
Coupe or convertible?

Thanks!
Syd

Dad's VIN plate and trim tag. Looks like it says BODY # 5848.

I wouldn't say that it's as rare as a Black/Saddle leather coupe and no way as rare as Saddle Tan/Red or Daytona/Black, which in my opinion are real rare combos.
I have listed a number of Tuxedo Black/Red 63's but could probably count on one hand the total of the other last two combo's mentioned.
