I just bought a 1966 with a posi; however, I only have one tire hooking up. Lets start with the idea that I know nothing about positraction except what I have been reading here. I guess maybe its the clutches, but I don't know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!! B
Its a big block posi. After my research, I was guessing it was most likely the clutches. Now I just have to find someone in south Alabama who can fix it. This is not my kind of project. Thanks!!
I have been reading about Gary, and reading his rebuild articles. Thats probably the way to go. I just wonder how long I will have the car out of service. Guess I need to shoot him an email. Thanks
BUT, if Gary can't get to it for a few weeks/months I would call Bair's in Pennsylvania. Besides Gary, they are the only one I would recommend. Their turnaround time should be short.

Thanks, but could you narrow that down for me some to a town or area in Pennsylvania.
Before all the down time and expense I am have a trick that works on this issue about 70% of the time.
1) Drain the posi unit and refill with Type-F transmission fluid.
2) Take the car for a brisk run through the gears no more than about
5 miles total. The trans fluid will have taken any glaze off the
plates by then.
3) Drain and refill with the correct GM lube and posi additive. I bet in
most cases your problem will be over.
