No dash lights

No dash lights
What usually causes this? I recently put in a new wiper system and A/C. What may have happened is this. When I went to put my radio back in I accidentally Hooked hot to hot and ground to hot, so I put 12 in the ground circuit. Got the ground wire hot, coming from a harness to ground behind the console. Could I have burned out the light switch? Head lights and everything else in the car works. ????????????

What year car? I know you said A/C but that could be aftermarket A/C in a straight axle.
1) Check the fuse. If you have a 63-67 I know there's a dedicated fuse for the Panel Lamps
2) Check the headlight switch - are you sure you don't have the **** turned to the "dim" setting?

1958 yes I've taken a quick look at the fuses, turned the dimmer. That's what I'm wonder about. The switch?

I had no instr. panel light on my 62. I ran a test cable fron + post of the Batt. and touched the bottom fuse. The light then worked. Removed headlight switch. Jumped red wire to grey and that worked. BAD HEADLIGHT SWITCH ON MINE.
