The production/date code is stamped into the passenger side vertical wall of the pan.

My numbers were on the bottom of the pan; pretty much in the center.
T10 21N which coincides for the build date of my car.

Then either the pan or the transmission has been replaced. There's a VIN derivative stamped on the transmission case, but I can't remember exactly where it was stamped. Maybe another Powerglide owner knows where it is.

The first digit is always T for Toledo (midyear thru '66). It is followed by numbers for MM, DD, then ends with a letter for shift code (D, N). There is no character for model year presented. There is no VIN cast or stamped. For example, my July 13, 1966 build date car, trans pan stamp: T0627D.

here's my original Sept. 1965 PG from my '66. Of course the tranny is in a crate, I currently run an M21. Hope to park the M21 and run a 5-Speed later this year. Plan to keep the PG forever, for a future owner to restore. It's super clean and low mileage. (yes, I kept the shifter, console, kickdown linkage, neutral safety switch, etc)

good move, was there a bracket on your frame to bolt the Zbar to when you installed your clutch linkage or did you have to make one, i'm curious because mine doesn't have one.

Some previous owner must have cut it off - all midyear frames, regardless of the transmission, had the tower for the Z-bar, welded on at the frame plant. C1's were different - their towers were welded on at St. Louis.

John is right, all C2's had the Z-bar mount. Wonder why would anyone remove it? Maybe someone had a crazy motor in there. Have the motor mounts been modified? LICS has the bracket for $15. Look in section 28. The rest off the swap is easy, without permanent modification. The clutch and brake pedal assy's are out there used or new. Post a WTB in the parts section here, you might get lucky. 4-speed consoles are readily available. Make sure you get the right Z-Bar, and clutch rod. There are different ones. Enjoy!
