My question is, how to secure the slotted rear control arm shims.('64) I am missing one ( broke off??). Going to replace with a slotted shim but what keeps it in place. Anyone replaced this type? Please help
Thanks a lot,
Frank
The trailing arm shims are held in place by a large, 6" long, cotter pin.
64's didn't originally use the slotted shims. These were introduced around 1970. Prior to that, the shims had just 2 holes in them. Most people use the slotted ones now, as they are much easier to install.
AH,Thanks,
That makes sense now, probably have to drill a hole for any suitable pin to lock in the shim. I noticed the other shims are not tied together with anything,
hanks again,
Frank
