Default Chrome plating???

In the process of restoring '65, I would like to keep all my original parts, but my tail light bezels have pits despite the car's low mileage. Repros are around $300...what would the cost of re-plating be?
Actually although the chrome on the rest of the car is perfect, the front right-fender has a deep scratch. Anyone have an idea, what would be the cost of re-plating a bumper?
Also does anyone have a re-plater they could recommend?
Thanks

Hey Joe, I used Space Coast plating down in Melbourne, Fl. They did a great job at re plating my tail light bezels. I highly recommend them. You can find them on the web. You can stop by my house if you want to check out their work. They did all of my re chroming.

My tail light assemblies were pretty badly pitted so I couldn't see trying to have them re-chromed. You can pick up new ones made my Trim Parts which are excellent from Corvette Central or Virginia Vettes for about $250. I just replaced mine when I was putting in new gas tank and they do look nice!!!

You'll find that to repair/plate pitted pot metal tail lights, will cost more and the quality will be less than if you bought some repo.s from Trim Parts. I bought a set from them and they are FLAWLESS.

Sorry to hear of your problems but you & FTF (corrosion problems) are the only ones that have had issues with Trim Parts. For the other 1000's of us, they are perfect.

I didn't have problems. I just wanted my tail light bezels re chromed so I would be 100% sure that they would actually fit properly.

I have to ask -Why didn't you exchange them them if you weren't happy, or did you even try them?
The only difference between my originals, NOS and the Trim Parts lights were the higher quality, better fit of the Trim Parts items.

It is not really fair to call the rear tail lights from Trim Parts Repro's. They bought the original molds and rights to the taillights from GM. They have the original parts numbers and everything. They are not the ones that came in the car but they are exactly the same. The only possible difference is the material used t make them.

Its true ... my Trim Parts tail light chrome has developed minor pitting at the bottom of each of the four lights. This started after about a year after installation and has gotten slightly worse now. The car never sees rain. My car is a driver so I just haven't bothered to get with Trim Parts for replacement. I fully realize that my experience is the exception and not the rule with their products.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm glad that I had my originals redone. It's been over five years and they still look brand new.
