Helping a friend with his 66 327 which has been converted from a powerglide to a 700R4. Know some of you guys have had this experience. We're trying to get his backup lights to work and the question is which neutral safety switch do we need? Can the switch for the powerglide work or do we need one for the 700R4? What other problems/solutions have you guys run into? Thanks for the help!
1st, Why a 700 and not a 200? I understand that the 200 is a bit smaller and a tad lighter and as strong if not stronger. 2ND,I've been told its a heck of a job to get them in ie trans mtg, drive shaft length and room in general. All the small parts you can get from GM.

I don't know the answer to your question as to which neutral safety switch to use. Try a PM to Silverslashstreak. He has been running a 700R4 in a midyear for a long time and I can just bet he knows the answer.
OR you can contact Shiftworks on the internet. They service shifters and switches for just about everything.
FYI, i have been told that some cross member mods may be needed for the 700R4 trans mounts, please keep us up on what you need for this job, i'm thinking about doing the same thing and trying to figure out what trans to use....are you pulling the engine and trans together?
Thanks BadBirdCage for the references, and to all others for the advice. The 700R4 was already in the car when he bought it. The original powerglide came with the car as part of the deal, but he's happy with the 700. The hard part is done, now just trying to make it work. Thanks again.
