Bill has been making them for years. They're nice, but will get picked up as repros, by most "good" NCRS judges.

Very easy to spot if you know what to look for. But it could be worse. There is a 65 Chevelle claiming to be a real Z16 with home made cowl tag and vin tag

The NCRS will now black list any car found to have a fake trim tag during judging.

Maybe so but it's been proven before that the NCRS Judges can be wrong. Being blacklist by the collective may seem bad but there area plenty of Corvettes bought and sold with out the interaction of the NCRS. Not bashing the NCRS as I'm a member too. However it is not the end all make all that people want you to believe..

I'm curious to know how he think the info available from the NCRS can help with a trim tag.

Hawkers market their wares according to the market. The NCRS comes up with a new way to judge, those hawking parts, pieces, ways to top flight a car will come up with new marketing plans. MKT 100 in most college course books.

While his trim tags may not pass NCRS judging there are those that make trim tags that will pass even the best judges, even those who wrote the book.

That's going to cut out many C1's from NCRS and force better trim tags

What id you tell them ahead of time that its fake? I can see someone getting one if theirs was lost or damaged.

While C1's don't have trim tags I hope that means my original VIN plate will score me more points with NCRS judges>

That's a great point , the C1's are easy to tell a fake tag even tho the numbers may look correct and some are while other not. So the only way to be sure on C1's is to look at the frame and how is that done. Curious minds want to know?????

That's not what I was getting at- here's what his ad says:

"ok all you 63-67 vette guys should know by now gm has released vin numbers and car shippers so the mystery is gone whether your car is right or cloned. members of certain vette clubs can send a check and vin number and get zone ,dealer and options. so join one of the clubs and take advantage of this service. once you fugure out what color/trim your corvette was born,we can help get it put back right, tagwise."

We all know what info is available from the NCRS for this generation of cars. How does this seller think this info will help in making a better tag?

Is he that misinformed? Am I asking rhetorical questions again?

Perhaps, or he hopes buyers are.

To be judged, the car has to have the original trim tag in place, no ifs and or buts...
If they detect that the tag is fake, regardless of any reason, the car is disqualified.

The "eagle-eyed" judges he refers to in his ad are numerous. Regional & National NCRS/Bloomington judges will catch a bad trim tag every time. I would hate for some purchaser to think that there are only a couple of judges who might catch the tag. I believe the entire package would become suspect if the tag matched the paper work and the tag was determined to be bogus. Caveat emptor!

Wow, that sure killed the thread.

BTW- fake re-stamped BB are not 'okee-dokee' in 'their' judging.
