Default Vin De-coded

VIN# = 19437 5S118466

TRIM TAG# J25
65 437
TRIM# 414AA
BODY# S3306
Paint# 900FF

Here are the numbers on the nomenclatures under my glove box. I need to know what the numbers mean after the 19437 (coupe). Also the books I reaserched have no 900 in front of the paint code FF (Nassau Blue). What is the 900, is this the paint number? Also the 414AA, is this refering to the seats? The 414 is vinyl (blue), which I upgraded to leather (is this an NCRS points deduct?) but what is the AA in the 414AA? Also there is a "BODY" number S3306 what does this refer to? Also the J25 I think is May 25th, is this correct. Any help would be great.

After the 19437 comes the year (5=1965), S=Saint Louis assembly plant, followed by a six-digit vehicle number that starts sequentially from 100001 (the first 1965 built) so yours was the 18,466th 1965 Corvette, built in late May 1965.

The "900" prefix to the (any) paint code was standard on all St Louis-produced bodies as opposed to A.O.Smith-produced bodies, which did not have that prefix. I don't know if it had any meaning.

414 is indeed blue vinyl interior, and the first "A" indicates a coupe interior... not sure what the second "A" indicates. I suspect leather would be a judging deduction.

Body number is a sequential number assigned at the St Louis plant when the body was built... it did not yet have a VIN, that would be assigned later at the beginning of the final assembly line as the body was mated to a chassis to fill a particular vehicle order, but the body builders needed a number to uniquely identify each body... yours was the 3,306th coupe built in St Louis for the 1965 model run.

J25 is indeed May 25th, which is when the body was built.

The AA, AB, A?? that follow your trim numbers are "exception control letters". What are they....although the interiors were the same color, they were "different". For example, if you ordered a car with power windows, you got door panels without holes for the window cranks. Noland Adams book "splains" these pretty well. NCRS will hit you 50% for your leather "upgrade", since it doesn't match the trim tag. They'll hit you 100% if you've changed the color. Chuck
