I also don't want the government making rules to make cars and us safer. Seat belts, helmets, airbags, safety things in the bumpers, doors, and body are examples. I think all these things make you safer but I don't like the government mandating them. The auto companies that want to build the safest cars would build them and advertise them as such without the government rules. They could also make cars without all that stuff for the folks that prefer that sort of car which believe me there is a market for. I ride a bike with a 425 HP Chevy small block in it that most people think you gotta be crazy to ride. I sell these bikes and am the west coast sales rep for the manufacturer so I see folks every day pay pay over fifty grand for a motorcycle that has never had SAFETY touted as one of its strong selling points. My 63 SWC is probably not much safer in a crash and I don't care. I have a newer car with all the safe stuff, but that's not why I bought it. Each of us has reasons for what we drive or ride but I don't think anybody owns or drives a midyear corvette because they think in a crash it would offer a good chance of coming out of it without any injury. By the way a dual stage master cylinder is great idea just not mandatory IMHO.
