63 327 340HP SHP Manual trans, 4 barrel carb, dated Sept 25th. You seem to be missing a number on the VIN derivitive after the 31. Yours is either the 819th or 10819th made.

In the number sequence there should be 7 numbers. The first is a 3 for the year, the next is a 1 which really is a filler because there were never 100,000 made, the next 5 numbers would be the number yours was made in the sequence. If the number was say 3110819 yours would be the 10,819th made. If the numbers were 3100819, your would be the 819th made. You seem to be missing a number is what I am saying.

Hi,

Is your '63 #819 a coupe or convertible?
What colors??
I like to record them and do not have this early '63 listed.

Gumpy...... My Vette was built on Oct 5, 1962 with a VIN of 1122. You may have an early production '63.

"Yours is either the 819th or 10819th made."

I bet 819, as the F0925= Engine assembly date, September 25, 1962, which fits the early October production time frame of this car.

Yes, the 340hp motor had solid lifters. At the top is a FAQ section and in there is a thread for books and such that come in handy when owning a Corvette: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...ese-books.html

Sounds like you got a nice car.

K 10 1= November 10, 1961 used in an early 1962 production 327 engine, with 300, 340 or 360hp ratings. Passenger car 300hp engines also used them.

Early 1963 Corvettes used the Borg-Warner T-10 style 4 speed that had been in use since 1957.

And yes, this 63 unit was a T10D-1 Maincase with a T10-7D Tailshaft, AND A T10-148B sidecover. It was alluminum.

The first Muncie 4 speed did not start production shippment until February 6, 1963, and started to show up in Corvette cars in May and June 1963. Passenger cars got the first round on Muncies

The vin number derative (3S10819) of your car will also be stamped on the side of the flange and a date code like WA2832 = Warner 4 sp, A=Jan, 3= year 1963, 28=day28,2=year,2 shift

63's used the 421 bellhousing, with the small hole to match the smaller-diameter front bearing retainer; if that one has a '63-only T10-1D main case and the later 403 bellhousing with the larger hole for the front bearing retainer, the front bearing retainer isn't positively registered to the bellhousing.
