Default VB&P performance plus package

Hi Guys, I bought a 67 with the VB&P Performance plus package on it. The guys who set this up did not do a very good job. Car has a violent torque when the power is let off. I'm ordering a new set of bushings for both front and back as this car has been sitting for 5 years collecting dust and the bushings are dry rotted and cracked.
A friend of mine told me to get rid of this and go to coil overs, but that seems like the extreme answer. If this car is set up right, wouldn''t the VB&P be just fine? Car has a very built Big block in it. I'm wondering if the rear sway bar is adequate for this? Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks
Mike

What do you mean by "violent torque"? (it would help in order to give you more specific feedback.)
