Trying to fit the windshield on my 62. The front clip new. The passenger side gap between the door post and windshield is perfect. The driver side not too good. What is the best way to go about getting a better fit on the drivers side? Would you lower the windshield the match or somhow raise the door post?
How does it look at the top? Maybe your door needs to come up slightly. The windshield post looks good. Did you bolt down the windshield? and how is the gap around the entire windshield?
I would move the door up some but I'm happy with the fit of the rest of the door. The ridges of the coves line up perfectly. The gap at the top of the post is about the same as the bottom. The fit of the windshield to the hood surround look good also.
The weather stripping is in place. I move the door up, and made the gap acceptable to where I would be comfortable. The problem is the ridge for the cove is off by abour 3/16 of an inch. Don't know what my best solution is.
I have gotten the fit a little bit better. I know these cars were not perfect from the factory but would like it to look as nice as possible. The gap is now pretty close. I sanded down the groove in which the windshield assembly fits. I think if I can get another 1/16 - 1/8 I would be good.
With a new front clip would it be possible that you would have to lower the surface that the winshield fits in? The front clip was sliced in at that point.

You have it figured out. The windshield ledge was modified with the front clip replacement, so the gutter needs to be modified accordingly. This photo looks decent, and once you get the door post rechromed, it to will have some adjustment available when you re-install it.
You know the drill "beat to fit.....paint to match", but don't let bubba distort all your hard work.

i did the same thing with my 56,,, sand a little , fill a little and it will fit fine,,,, yours looks good to me..
In the past, I was told these were not always perfect out of the factory. Though do not take my word on it.
that's not true, the gaps on mine are perfect and I didn't want anyone to be satisfied with 'good enough' as acceptable...keep trying to make it as the best you can and cure those 'beforers mistakes of 1/2 *** is good enough......
