I'm getting ready to send my (66 Saddle) dash pads an dash center section to "somebody" for restoration. I spoke with the people at Just Dashes and got a pretty good feel for them. I searched here and saw some threads where people were about to use "Just Dashes" but saw no comments on the outcome. Also, is there generally a consistent color in the '66 Saddle color from the various seat cover and door panel vendors?
Anybody?
By the way, the chassis runs and it sounds badass.
My experience has been, that other than black, the colored vinyls and leathers are all over the board. It all has to do with the "run" when they are made. I don't quite understand what you're getting restored. The pads can be dyed, but not "recovered" without the appropriate heat press. The center section is painted in a 66, unlike a 63/4 which has a moulded skin. If you're planning on having them dyed, you should first purchase your seat covers/door panels etc, and have the dye mixed to match. Some of the spray bomb stuff that Al Knoch or Corvette America will match pretty close, but I've used some that were in a different stratosphere!! If you plan to buy new pads, just make sure that you get all of the softgoods from the same supplier. Good luck

I should note, that you CAN recover the pads, but they will have a "french stitch" along the nose. I've had this done on several restomod cars. It looks pretty cool, but not correct.

I'm needing new foam and vinyl covers as well as repainting the center section. The pads are original (read old and ugly), and the center was painted once before and is slightly incorrect.
The Just Dashes guy said that I could send a seat cover sample to ensure color matches what they use for '66 Saddle, but I don't have the seat covers yet. When I get them, I will try and find a piece I can cut off and send with the dash. I'm am asking about any experience with the company. They seem competent and knowledgeable on the phone.
as indicated above, 'Al Knoch Corvette Interiors would have the correct color dye as he is one of only a few that actually make replacement dash`s and his actually fit
I used them to re-due my 914-6 dash and it came out perfect. they are located close to where I used to work and live, so I was able to drop it off.
You and I should have a business like this. UPS droped off at least a dozen to be re-done and he shipped at least that many if not more, and that's every day. As I remember looking at work in progress and to be done. He operates in about a thousand sq. ft. with few employees. I saw vacuum forming equipment and rolls of material of every color and type. It's been several years since I've been there and he could of moved or sold the bus. He was located in Van Nuys Cal. then, and a very nice person to work with. He also did consoles and other interior parts that use this application. The work I saw looked outstanding.
The day I was there an Australian was there with a car he had just purchased and was in need a of work done before shipping it home

I used them to do the dash in my 67 chevelle. I sent them the worst looking piece of junk and they restored it to like new.
