One of my favorite grand-nieces was married last Saturday. Two days before the wedding, she called to tell me the special car they wanted for their wedding would not be available, and she asked it she and her new husband could drive away from the wedding in my Corvette. I like her and her fiance a lot, plus he is a genuinely hands-on car guy, so I said yes. The wedding was held at a former plantation in east central Alabama. The photo they took of my car in front of the old manor house looked so good, I wanted to share it here.
BTW, without me saying a word, the staff had strict instructions to not let anyone decorate the car.
Indeed - they are just cars. I sent my son-in-law and daughter around the track at Sebring last year in my '61 for a "touring lap" with the advice to "not lag behind those new-fangled sports cars on the track". He didn't !!
The young man brags to his buddies about taking a '61 Corvette around Sebring "at speed" all the time....that alone was worth any minor worries about somebody besides me driving the car.

You made memories for them that can last a life time. Just nuts and bolts. I've never been one to get excited about people touching one of my cars, show or not.
Don't you have a picture of the couple with the car? Let's see the smiles a C2 can still help to generate!
The photo above was taken by a friend of the couple. The official photographer took lots of pictures with the wedding party around the car, and the couple driving off in it. I haven'st seen them yet.
One more note. I let the groom test drive it the day before the wedding so he wouldn't embarrass himself before the crowd. He stumbled away, killing it several times as I yelled "First gear" at him. He was not used to the stiff spring in the Hurst shifter and was in third instead of first. As he was preparing to get in the car on his wedding day, I whispered to him that it was already in first gear. All he had to do was push in the clutch, start the engine and drive away. He did fine when the crowd was watching.

My 56 ragtop Belair got a lung full of rust from the tank, choked the carb up and quit on me about a mile and a half from the church for my sisters wedding! She was devastated, it was her dream to drive away in it.
A guy drove by me on the side of the road with a 63 Caddie ragtop, and offered to help with tools, and ended up actually lending me his car to drive the happy couple away. Car dudes rule!
Your car looks great, and what a shot. Better blow that up to poster size!

Very cool. We'll see if I get that request from my daughter some day. (From what you say, the Powerglide would come in handy.)
