The 62 sits way too high for my taste. I'm looking to bring it down about two inches all the way around. I plan on getting some blocks for the rear unless anyone has a better solution. In the front I was wondering how much I need to take out of the springs to get it down 2 inches. I hear that if you lower it more than two inches you start getting too stiff of a ride and run out of front front end alignment. I have heard that the arms out of a 53 Chevy will bring it down 1 1/2 inches. I am going to need a little more than that. Would you suggest the 53 arms plus take a little out of the spring. Or will just taking some out of the springs be good enough? The rear should not that big of a deal but I would like to get some input on lowering the front. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had custom wound 1" lowering springs on the front of my '62 for a while, I wouldn't go lower than that using just coils. The '49~'53 sedan uprights will give you about an other inch lower, so combined you'd get your two inches.
I don't know what the roads are like where you live, but where I am 2" on the front with stock suspension would be too low.

PS. If your car sits too high in the front, you may just have the wrong coils, a common issue with these cars, mine had the wrong ones when I bought it.

Thanks, Mike
IMO the perfect solution is to use stock springs (don't cut them) and good shocks with Fatman Fabrication's (http://www.fatmanfab.com/) drop spindles and steering knuckles in front and Vette Brakes (http://www.vbandp.com/) composite leaf springs at the back. This will give you the perfect stance without braking your bank.
I'm using the above on my 56 and sits just perfect now.

Last page of the thread I add my .02 cents. With the changes to this car it does ride, drives, stops very well. Would avoid cutting springs at all costs. A little lower really does improve the looks of the car. Good luck with your project. DJ.
