Default The correct Manifold???

Hi Guys,
I bought a 1963 corvette 300hp 327 , date code June

The previous owner had put on some aftermarket manifold, headers etc.
He gave me what he though was the original manifold on the car.
the manifold # 3783244 date code..L161

This doesnt make sense to me. What is the correct #

Casting number 3799349 or 3844459 would be correct for 300HP depending on the car's build date in '63:

The manifold you have is for a '63 250HP as shown on the same web page.

The intake for a 63 L75 has a casting number of 3799349.

The 3783244 is a 62-63 327/250 horse intake. The 63 300hp used intake 3799349 (as did the 62 and maybe 64 300). The 3844459 could possibly show up on very late 63 300's.

The dating on your intake would make it correct for a 62 327, built roughly sometime between Dec. 61 and May 62

I've heard that but, never seen a report or survey of any original cars that ever had one. Just like a lot of supposedly "late" 65 items although there's never been a documented original.

Go with a "349" manifold and it will never be proven wrong. A "459" will do nothing but raise questions. Whatever you choose, it really won't be the original one so go with what's proven correct.

If it has to be "correct" go with 3799349..Mine is a June car..I found the "correct" manifold for it years ago..There out I do believe 63 Impala shares that same manifold casting numbers with Corvette.....

Good luck

The GM1 and GM2 are foundry pattern identifiers - they're meaningless in terms of dating or judging requirements.
