coil spring position

I know this has been covered a lot but I can’t locate the threads I am searching for. Long story short I am going to put my spring is tomorrow. They are the new shorter Moog 5758's. If I remember the thread I read a long time ago the hole at the top of the spring tower is the one that is referenced for alignment not the drain hole in the lower control arm. I think I read that you position the top end of the spring 1/2" or so after the hole in the tower. Am I remembering right? Does using the shorter Moogs change the philosophy at all?

My '67 manual under Corvette installation states, "end of coils must be 3/8" from coil stops in spring seat".
