I found a edelbrock Torker manifold in great shape I would like to use but it is the chrome version. Can the chrome be taken off somehow or is it permently ingrained in the finish. I will probably use it anyhow but much prefer the original finish. Thanks.
A polished manifold has had the original cast surface finish completely smoothed away. Therefore, you can never return it to that original rough, dull surface finish. ALTHOUGH, blasting with a COARSE meadia material will somewhat duplicate a natural cast finish and will also make it dull. If it were mine, that's what I'd do first.
they also have a coating called Endurashine - it is like a coating.
wether it is chromed or polished or coated - you can blast it and return it back to raw alum. - then do whatever you want.
correct as above - if you use coarser material - the coarser the finish will be.

I'd leave it polished. It's not like it's original or anything, and it's a lot easier to keep clean, polished. Those are about 100$ more than a normal one when new.

IMO, performance will be better with a corvette aluminum dual plane manifold anyway.
I agree with Larry, and if you want to run Edelbrock get the newer RPM Performer model for better low end grunt. Torkers are 70's technology for high rev performance.
