Hello
I have a 65 396 convertible that was a manual steering car and now has power assist steering. The steering box is sloppy, although the conversion is great.
Anyone have ideas on the best ratio and steering box to use without costing an arm and leg ?
Thank you

There was no difference in the steering gear between manual and power from '63-'82; both conditions used the same gear. Yours probably just needs a quality rebuild, or it could be as simple as making sure it's correctly high-point centered.
Be sure you are set up using the forward most holes in the steering arms for the tie rod ends. It's required to prevent damage to the steering slave cylinder, but it also will remove some of the perceived slop. Otherwise....what John said....
