Wife decided she wanted a kitchen restoration...like I said earlier paybacks are hell...
She said she was going to pay it all as a turn key project, I told her I would do the demoliton and fixture installations. I will also put up the tile, but the granite counter was all installed by the professionals.
What she doesn't realize is all the labor money I just avoided is going into the corvette restoration...
Here are a couple of pic's, still in progress...last step is the backsplash all the appliances are now in. I am making her change out all the cabinet handles and hinges.
When we bought our house in FL 2 years ago, my wife liked everything about it except the countertops. They're green and she hates green (with the exception of Mosport which she likes). So I told her we'd rip it all out and replace it with granite or quartz. However, after pricing out what it's going to cost, I think buying a Corvette would be cheaper . . . I'll just stay away from Goodwood

That is what mine were...that forest green formica marble, looked nice in the 1980's but so did knee high tube socks LOL.
You can still see the old formica on the backsplash behind the cooktop...quickset right over it and tile away. One last weekend stretch and I can get back into the vette....
When our kitchen gets 'dated' the wife just has us move to a new house....it was actually pretty lucrative up until the Florida real estate debacle. I'm still ahead moneywise but not by much !

My wife has us move when the house needs cleaned .
FL real estate is way down. We looked at over 30 houses down there before we bought one 2 years ago this month. Prices were down by about 1/3 from what I could tell. The house we ended up with was way under market value. Even though the seller had been making mortgage payments for 13 years, he still had to bring extra cash to closing to cover the payoff. No way we could have bought that house at that price 4 or 5 years earlier.
OTOH, we bought our MN house at the peak of the market in 2005. It's on the market and we've already prepared ourselves for taking a big hit on it.
