Default Tachometer reading problems-59"

Hi,

Recently bought a 59 with some problems with the tachometer.
It´s supposed to be "gone trough" but the reading shows exactly twice as much as the actual rpm.

When the engine spins at 1500rpm the tachometer reads about 3000rpm.

I suppose someone out there could tell what could be wrong!?.

Thanks alot in advance.

just a thought.

Is there a "ratio" adapter on the back where the cable hooks up?
also, do you have the correct pulleys?
Check that at make sure its correct.

The distributor drive and the generator drive operate at different RPMs. It sounds like your's is set up for the distributor drive.
